JAVA INSTALLATION / QUEST 01
Verity Minecraft Java: Download & Install Verity JE
For the least troublesome install, use Verity JE 5.7.3 with Minecraft Java 1.20.1 and Forge. Version 6.1 is a beta; do not pick it just because the number is higher.
Before you start
- A legitimate Minecraft: Java Edition installation.
- A separate 1.20.1 Forge profile so the mod does not affect your normal worlds.
- Enough free disk space for a large mod file and a backup of any world you care about.
- The Java runtime recommended by your launcher for Minecraft 1.20.1.
Pick the 1.20.1 Forge build
The selector shows the filename, size and SHA-1 for both builds. Follow this walkthrough with the stable 5.7.3 file unless you specifically want to test the beta.
Install in a clean Forge profile
- 01
Create or select Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge
Launch the profile once without Verity so Minecraft creates the correct folders, then close the game.
EXPECTED RESULTThe profile reaches the main menu and has its own game directory.
- 02
Place the Verity JE .jar in the mods folder
Move only the file that matches your chosen release into that profile’s mods directory. Do not unzip the .jar.
EXPECTED RESULTThe mods folder contains one clearly identified Verity JE file.
- 03
Resolve only the dependencies shown for that file
Check the project page’s Relations or loader error. Dependency requirements changed between releases, so do not install a random old list.
EXPECTED RESULTForge starts without a missing dependency message.
- 04
Create a new test world
Use a fresh world first. Confirm the mod is listed and the initial Verity sequence appears as described by the project.
EXPECTED RESULTThe game loads and Verity content is present before AI configuration.
Configure AI only after the base mod works
The project describes AI-provider setup as a separate step. Open the in-mod configuration for your exact release and follow the maintainer’s current tutorial.
Never paste an API key into this website, a public screenshot, a crash report or a shared configuration file. Verity Guide does not request or store provider keys.
Common Java failures
| Symptom | Check first |
|---|---|
| Crash before menu | Minecraft version, Forge version and file release |
| Missing dependency | Relations tab or exact loader error for this file |
| No AI response | Base mod works, then provider URL/key/model and network |
| No voice | Microphone permission, audio device and release language support |
| Old world behaves strangely | Repeat in a new test world and restore backup |
